Mooring ropes double braided
Having a good mooring line or mooring line is very important for docking the yacht. To have the right mooring line, both the length and weight of the ship is very important. In terms of the length of the mooring line, we recommend assuming one and a half times vessel length. In terms of the thickness of the mooring line, we recommend the length of the vessel plus 2 to 4 mm.
Note! The diameter of the line is always measured under tension!

The double braided mooring lines are finely braided lines with a separate inner core. This type of line is typically used for superyachts. The double braided mooring lines can be made of different types of materials. The corresponding properties are found below:
Polyamide or nylon mooring lines
- Stretches well
- When wet, it loses 5% - 25% of its strength
- Wear-resistant and does not float
Polyester mooring lines
- High breaking strength, but lower strength of nylon mooring lines.
- Stretches less than nylon lines
- Does not float but remains flexible
Polypropylene
- Lower strength of nylon or polyester
- Cheap to produce
- Floats well but does not withstand UV radiation well
Polyethylene
- Cheap and light
- Fairly stiff rope type
Aramid (or Kevlar/Twaron)
- Similar to nylon but much stronger
- 5-8 times stronger than steel (at equal weight)
- Virtually no stretch. Typically used as the core of a braided line
Dyneema (HMPE)
- A super fiber so tremendously strong
- 15 times stronger than steel.
- Light material, very good buoyancy and is water resistant
Are you looking for mooring lines made of beaten line or 8 strand braided line? Of course, we can offer you that, too. The mooring ropes are always custom made and can be made to any thickness as desired.
